Week 22 - February 11 - 15

N.A.A.P.I.D - Join us for an afternoon of events at school. We will feature a luncheon (11:30 am -1:00 pm) and include a presentation by Jonathan M. Wynne, author of IMPACT PARENTING: Raising College-Ready Students. The school talent show will take place after that at 2pm in the cafeteria.

Count Day - This Wednesday, February 13, is Count Day. Please help us gather accurate information about our school by having your child to school on time.

Math - The students recently took Unit 4 test. You will see that coming home soon. If your child is still having difficulty recalling multiplication facts, he or she should be practicing them daily. This can be done either on the Xtramath program, with flash cards, or any way that works best for your family. You should have seen the Unit 5 Family Letter come home last week. This is a great resource when helping your child with homework.

Reading - Your child has been or is currently reading historical fiction. We have been studying the similarities and differences of this genre compared to others. We have also been learning about how to identify symbolism, main ideas, and themes in text. Your child should be reading about 20 minutes a night.

Healthy Hearts 101 - The kids did a great job on our field trip. Hopefully they came home and told you a little about it. It was perfect timing to go along with a science lesson that they completed in class the next day. I will post pictures on the Class Pictures link.

Science Fair - Just a reminder that science fair is coming up! I have had some students staying in at lunch to work on their projects with me. If your child is unable to work on this at home, he or she should be making arrangements with me. I'm hoping for a fun, successful learning experience!

Valentine's Day - We will have a small Valentine's Day party on Thursday. I will send home a list of students in our class. Please let me know if you want to send a small treat in to share with the class.

February 15th - We still don't know for sure if we have this Friday off. It is looking likely but we won't know for sure until Tuesday evening. We do have next Monday, February 18th off. Enjoy the long weekend!
